Exploring the Essence of Truth

Everything in life is not always as it seems. We know that someone may be the purest of the pure on the outside but what about on the inside? If their mind is corrupt then their actions will be corrupt and their nearest and dearest will always know that they are not who they say they are.

How can we avoid this?

We can connect our minds to the internal shabad through a focused practice called Simran. The mind will slowly become pure and the filth on the mind will start to be removed and the truth from within will reveal itself. The filth is the internal chatter of the mind, plotting plans, having materialistic hopes and desires, and gossiping to name a few, all leading to our never ending bombardment of thoughts.

The truth is Sach (Waheguru, Allah, Ram, God, The Universe). Our minds are the children of the creator regardless of gender, religion or social status. We are all one.  So what is going on in the world?

As we have seen in recent times there are disastrous unjust things occurring across the world. Human beings are no longer even able to sit in the same household as each other. The conflicts from family to family are slowly growing. Anxiety, worries, greed and fears are all coming into play. Most of these issues stem from the mind and our own thoughts. Wow, imagine what having peace of mind would feel like.

If we go back to the root causes of some of the bigger problems in the world today we will find that the minds of the people who are chosen to lead the countries are corrupt, be it power, wealth, fame, they all have their own agenda. They are serving their own needs and not serving humanity. We often find that the truth is being hidden or misconstrued. Important issues are being swept under the carpet or made to seem much smaller than they are. Social media drip-feeds us information to give us a false sense of life. The incorrect usage of such tools i.e. trolling and bullying are having detrimental effects on people, even leading some to suicide. We blindly trust what we are told. We don’t know all the facts – only what is shown to us.

These leaders can’t control their own minds yet they have control over the world?  Now, if these same leaders did Simran, their minds would have been free from the internal chatter and they would have served humanity as one and we would not be seeing households, nations and counties being torn apart through greed, money and politics.

Gradually, this will have a ripple effect and our families will feel the same peace that we have obtained. This is how humanity will learn to ‘love thy neighbour’ and live in peace.

Our purpose in life is to meet the creator, the truth while we are alive. So, instead of getting caught up in our day to day lives searching for worldly truths, we should also be striving to find our internal truth. The tools to achieve this are readily available, we just need to seek and do.
