Transformed by Faith

verb /trænsˈfɔːm/

make a marked change in the form, nature or appearance of.

To change; to alter; to transform. The inevitability of transformation umbrellas the unpredictability of our future, our tomorrow, our today.

The unknown instils a fear in our hearts and minds, that there is something we cannot foresee, let alone control.

Control. Something this world is lost in.

We desire certainty in this life. Certainty of this career, this family, this future, this happiness. That happiness, that peace, that perfect life we search for. We wake up every morning on the search for something new. We scroll through, only to develop a taste for Joban (Youth), Roop (Beauty) and Maal (Wealth).

These desires grow endlessly leaving me with a taste for more, a craving for something better.

Aren’t you tired yet?

Pause.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

What if I told you there’s always going to be a faster car than the one you’ve got?

A bigger house than the one you bought.

Someone with better kicks than the one you sport.

They say life is like a box of chocolates. We never know what it’s going to give us.

So why do we try? Why do we waste these precious breaths, these jewels You trusted us with, just to plan, plot and wonder?

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

They asked, “What do we gain from singing Your Name, day and night?”

I reply, “My transformation is not simply because of what I gained. My transformation is also for what I lost: Kaam (Sexual desire), Krodh (Anger), Hankaar (Ego).”

How foolish. We didn’t know You were so giving, so loving, so caring, to replace what we lost with so much more.

Please transform this child into Your soldier.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

I’m tired. Can I rest now?
