What does being mind-strong mean to you?

Remembering to breathe again, to realign my mind with my body. Embracing the ability to let thoughts and emotions flow around me without letting them consume me. This, in some way, helps to be mind-strong when needed.

Never lying or never gossiping again?

Not telling the truth leads to stress and worry over time, with a fear of being found out. Gossiping, on the other hand, may seem like an easy way to gain acceptance from others, but it’s a slippery slope and can stem from jealousy. It’s easier said than done, but best to avoid if possible!

What have you discovered about yourself in the last year?

Personally, I’ve finally discovered that the act of drawing and painting is far more important than the final result. There’s something to be said about a work of art never truly being finished.

I’ve also realised that I need longer moments of digital detoxing—to give my brain a chance to switch off and recharge.

If your thoughts made noises, what would they be?

I am highly sensitive to my surroundings, both visually and aurally. While this sensitivity can be a great asset, it often means I have to work harder to stay focused and concentrate.

What change would you want the world to focus on?

I was easily distracted in school when it came to traditional teaching, but it only took one teacher to help me recognise my superpower.

I believe art education should be a priority for everyone—almost like a form of 'military service,' which might sound radical! In my view, art, along with music, design, and performance, is the only subject where you're not directly told what to do or how to think, nor are you judged in the same way as other subjects.

Learning to draw, paint, and create gives us a unique sense of purpose. It’s about making your own rules, opening yourself up to the world around you, discovering who you are, and thinking about others. Art also lays the foundation for entrepreneurial thinking and risk-taking.
